Bellefontaine Courthouse

Situated among the rolling farmland of Logan County, Ohio is the charming city of Bellefontaine. From its transformation as an American Indian settlement and agricultural community, to a major railroad town and finally a manufacturing center, residents benefit from the area’s strong economy, excellent schools and countless recreation activities. Combined with the city’s tradition and friendliness, it is not hard to see why many people live in Bellefontaine.

More than 45,000 people make Bellefontaine their home, and many take pride in preserving the area’s rich history. Settled by Shawnee, Miami and other Native American tribes, the town was laid out on a village built by Shawnee war leader Blue Jacket. Eventually, the railroad connected Bellefontaine to Cleveland and St. Louis, making the town a major railroad stop and bringing many new residents. Today, Bellefontaine offers a nostalgic glimpse of the community’s storied past while providing countless opportunities.

In the late 1970s, Honda moved into the area and continued to expand operations well into the 1990s. As one of the area’s largest employers, Honda provides residents with a stability that is not taken for granted. Children receive a well-rounded education through the Bellefontaine City School District, where dedicated educators take the time to offer personal attention to their students.

When residents are not working or in school, they can enjoy any number of activities including golfing, biking, picnicking and more. Holland Theatre, which originally opened as a live theater in the 1930s, is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. The facility now hosts a variety of community events and special performances. Another well-known landmark of Bellefontaine is McKinley Street, considered to be the shortest street in the country measuring 20 feet long. The city also boasts the nation’s first concrete street – Court Avenue.

Bellefontaine real estate includes many different property types such as single family homes, historic farmhouses, condos, townhomes and land. Whether you are looking for something in one of the city’s charming neighborhoods or several acres in the country, Bellefontaine has homes for sale to fit everyone’s needs.
